The Dø are Dan Levy & Olivia Merilahti, a French/Finnish duo known for having one of the oddest and most beautiful debut albums ever, A Mouthful. With a variety of songs that range from muscular tribal to the most fragile moments, the couple became everybody’s secret favorite band. For the last two years, they’ve tried to make ‘At Last!’ and ‘On My Shoulders’ the hits they deserved to be, but now they are finally ready to move on.
Next Monday (December 13), they will be releasing a new EP. Although we lack information, we know it’s going to be called Dust It Off and will feature a song with the same name plus the new single ‘Slippery Slope’. We have no Idea if there is going to be any more songs. And we only know this because both songs have been released already!
‘Dust It Off’ is a simply song that relies only on Olivia and a piano. It doesn’t take much to be convinced that this combination is more than enough. This charming little song can be download for free from the band’s website in exchange for your e-mail.
But the song that impressed me the most was ‘Slippery Slope’. Flirting with all types of cultural percussion, the song seems to be designed to justify why the band has three drummers at their gigs. Olivia is an event apart, showing all her weird personas in a hypnotic and bizarre melody. 'Slippery Slope' got a video that looks like a fashion editorial centered around Olivia and it's pretty cool.
Now we are just waiting for an e-mail to arrive with details about the long-waited second album...
