This mix has been on constant repeat for the last week. I've found it oddly appropriate for almost any occasion; from waiting for a bus, to getting ready to go out, to laying on the beach, to going home drunk at 4am. It's Jamie xx's latest mix for BBC Radio 1. Something that struck me about this mixtape was it's fluidity. It's brilliant. It's seamless. One reason why it's been on constant repeat is that this 27 and a half minute mix is like the symbol for infinity; you can't tell where it ends and begins, so I find myself midway through it once more before I realise that it's playing over.
The transitions in Jamie xx's mixes are virtually undetectable, the beats from one track just glide into the next to deliver a whole experience. A real journey, without any annoying stop offs along the way. Excellent. And like others who love this mix, I just died upon hearing Lumidee's 'Never Leave You' resurrected in such a fashion. Get it.
