I guess I was never really into The Raveonettes. But at the end of last year, they played in Brazil near my house for a cheap price (which sold out faster than I thought they would), so I decided to go see what the band was all about. And boy, was I surprised. It’s not that they played anything that different from what I expected – the band is pretty much how they sell it - but I guess I never thought I’d like it so much.
Noisy, smoky, sexy… maybe it was the contrast of cool Danish personalities with a loving audience, or the dark, heavy songs played on a warm summer's night, but something clicked. And now I’m really looking forward to the band’s next release, Raven In The Grave.
‘Forget That You’re Young’ was the first song chosen to promote the album and its beautiful, hazy, minimalist and very introspective. Melancholic 60s pop with a 90s atmosphere that sounds very cohesive with the band’s back catalog (*new fan alert*).
Now I just wish I could see the band again with new knowledge to enjoy their gig even more.
