Right. Forget about the tabloids claiming Adele wants to work with a fictional character from interminable Australian TV soap Neighbors: the tuba toting Harold Bishop (also well known in Australia as one of the grossest old men alive). Even leave aside the fact that the big A has laryngitis and has had to cancel tour dates...Let's instead get to the point, with this latest Adele remix of 'Rolling In The Deep' on the block. This time the honours go to Citizen. Here:
I really wouldn't have posted yet another one unless I felt it was reeeally worthy, and this IS. The vocal cuts are wicked; almost percussive, and they're accompanied by a tough, hard hitting and syncopatic beat. That's before the synths suddenly drop into da house (literally) and unexpectedly exploit a quality in Adele's vocal that I never noticed before: the one that makes it potentially perfect for a sick house track if handled correctly, like it is here.
Three elements done superbly well (syncopatic beat, house synths, vocal cut) make this a hot track, and every bit as potentially classic as Jamie XX's effort - but not nearly as over killed at this point in the game.
