The lyrics that Girls' Chris Owens sings in 'Honey Bunny' tell the story that despite seeming like he doesn't give a fuck, he does. In particular, he fronts about not giving a fuck about girls who don't seem to give a fuck about him. But actually, he DOES in fact, give a fuck, and wants a girl like his mum who loved him and told him that everything was gonna be alright.
According to the lyrics, them girls who he messed around with didn't like his bony body or dirty hair. In the 'Honey Bunny' vid, directed by Ivan Shumaker and the other half of Girls, Chet JR White, Chris' bony body is rocking a velvet midriff bearing top and tight black jeans, and his dirty hair looks great in a bob. You know why? Because his look is accessorized with that attitude. And that car (I don't have much of an idea about cars, and I find that car decidedly uncool - is it a Corvette? - despite it's obvious 'hot car-ness').
Girls look kinda like, happy in this vid. Healthy, even. And the video feels pretty real; unpretentious, smile inducingly awkward, a bit cheesy in parts, sure, but refreshingly real (probably because that's actually Chris' girlfriend, Hannah, in the Corvette with him). Judge for yourself:
