I can't believe Theoretical Girl is finally trading in EPs for albums. After years of independent EP releases, her debut Divided will be released on the 17th of August via Memphis Industries. The date is a little far way, but Amy Turnnidge just released her first single 'Rivals' in order to prepare you. And the song, as usual, is lovely, a frenetic ballad softly interpreted.
And if the song keeps going on about rivalry, the video shows Amy competing against a wicked Ching Chong in the lamest car race ever. After you finish watching this video you may understand what British humor means and if you are dry enough, you might even enjoy it . Seriously, I appreciated all the flabby jokes here.
Alongside the single, there's an acoustic version of 'The Boy I Left Behind', one of her best songs so far, and it's too pretty for words. Just an acoustic guitar, a violin and her beautiful voice take care of the damage. There is also a free remix of 'Rivals' from PRDCTV which sounds like an indietronic affair that loses the original bass, but in exchange gets some synth love. I guess we'll be hearing a lot from PRDCTV soon.
