The last time we've heard something new from Clap Your Hands Say Yeah they were playing themselves in a movie featuring Tom Hank's son. They even played a new song, which sounded really good. Now the latest news is that singer Alec Ounsworth is releasing his debut album under the name Flashy Python, and you can stream all the tracks here at the bottom of the page.
Much more mature and introspective than the band's sound, Flashy Python flirts with classic elements, including a new theatrical sound. Very arty and instantly likable, it reminds me a lot of Dr. Dog and early Of Montreal. Some sixty melodies arranged into the middle of a chaos of information, but Alec unique voice pushes you back to the Clap Your Hands Say Yeah sound.
Skin and Bones was recorded with the help of members of Walkmen, Man Man, Dr. Dog, and Mazarin, and features eight new tracks. You can buy it already from Alec's website, we think you should. Download the track 'Skin and Bones' - the best of the album - as a teaser below and don't forget to stream the whole thing as well.
By the way, Alec will be releasing another solo album this year, but this time under his own name. More information to come.
OBS. 'Obscene Queen Bee', the second track of the album, used to be CYHSY's live track 'Cigarettes', I already loved this track live although it sounds very different on the album...very weird but still surprisingly good.
