Held at the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay (yes, it is actually where the big ships dock. Clichéd, but for a reason - it is an awesome view), it's Australian Fashion Week time in Sydney, and this season heralds the event's 15th birthday.
Being in the Southern Hemisphere and of a warm and sunny clime, dressing works a little differently to that of the Northern Hemispheric fashion capitals. And it's not so much a matter of being 'behind' those northern style meccas; it's more about how different weather patterns affect people's lifestyles - and even evolution - and subsequently of course, the way people dress.
In warm places, where one needs to wear less clothing, it's not only that it's much easier to make sartorial faux pas; but also that dressing with such little clothing requires the average fashionista much more skill in execution than it does when dressing for the cold.
So, from Rosemount Australian Fashion Week - henceforth referred to as RAFW - I'll be posting my favourite collections of this 15th anniversary season.
