LCD Soundsystem released a good third album. You know, one that everybody wrote, tweeted and talked about. But nothing in the world is going to convince me that ‘Drunk Girls’ was a good single. It’s not only un-original, but gets really annoying after listening to James Murphy shout “DRUNK GIRRRRRRLS” for the fourth time. OK, we get it; this song is about drunk girls. Now quit with the repetition!

But, as we've said before, Holy Ghost! saved the tune with their ever reliable remixes. And what better way to celebrate the remix than giving it its own video? This is exactly what director Daniel Garcia, from Adult Swim, did – with help from Kia. The video features a bunch of drunk homeless (or maybe just some dirty circus people?) doing some kind of bike jousting competition. We like it, but then again we even like jelly if it’s slow-motion. 

LCD Soundsystem's 'Drunk Girls' has been played out over the interwebs for weeks now; but it's the Holy Ghost! remix that has totally stolen our hearts and taken our feet to the dancefloor in a much groovier fashion than the guitar driven original. Another blisteringly good bit of work from one of our faves, Holy Ghost! turning out a 7 and a half minute odyssey of a remix that goes by as quickly as if it was a 3 minute boogie it's that good. How much do you miss LCD Soundsystem? If your taste is anything like our taste then you should miss them a lot. Not only are they one of the best live bands I've had the pleasure to witness but they also released one of the most important albums of this decade. And if you are a fan (like myself) you know that there hasn't been any new releases since the great Sound of the Silver of 2007, but this is going to change now.

Before releasing the much waited third album, James Murphy's group is releasing the single 'Bye Bye Bayou' on the 24^th of November via DFA Records. And before you get all anxious and start biting your fingernails off we have the song already and it's a free download - just check it below!

'Bye Bye Bayou' is a cover from the highly influential Alan Vega, from the New York duo Suicide, and it's taken from his debut solo album from '81. Although very good, this 7 minute groove jam will not make it onto the band's next album (which will be released around March) but for sure it'll get you hyper excited - that or you don't know shit.

Are you ready to watch the coolest, cheapest and most creative video of the year? So get ready, because Franz Ferdinand third single off Tonight: Franz Ferdinand is all of that - not to mention that it's also highly addictive. 'Can't Stop Feeling' is another dancing number from the boys, with great drums, evocative bass lines and the so talked synths that makes Tonight a more pleasant experience. But I'm here to talk about the video, which basically could be recorded by anybody with some mad editing skills. I guess I just said everything that needed to be said, just watch it!

The new single will be released via Domino on the 6^th of July. Along the cover of LCD Soundsystem's 'All My Friends'. There are some remixes, of course. The only one that we've heard is the WhoMadeWho remix and it's great. Not as immediate as the original, the WhoMadeWho version is more like a space-y journey full of feelings but one in an electronic mood.

The Juan Maclean project

To be honest, I'm not a real fan of the video, but boy, isn't the music great? I think with The Future Will Come, Juan MacLean releases his best album to date, not to mention the best in 2009. It's a groovy mix of disco and new wave that will find a place in your MP3 player and in your favorites clubs as well. Think Human League through the disco vision of DFA.

The Human League inspiration also bleeds into the video; with lots of cheesy 80's digital effects. Even Juan MacLean admits to the homage, as mentioned in his blog: "It is a troubling tale of unrequited love, evocative of 80's synth pop.  There is also an animated video in which Juan wears quite a bit of makeup a la Phil Oakey."

'One Day' also features Nancy Whang from LCD Soundsystem and a falsetto by Alex Frankel from Holy Ghost!. Mark Romboy, The Emperor Machine, Surkin, James Curd and Lazaro Casanova contributed with remixes for the single. Check the Surkin and James Curd's versions in the bottom of the post.
