Mash-ups are such a tricky, tricky business; most tracks are a novelty kind of thing for me, of which wears off very quickly. I often can't decide whether I hate to love them or just plain old hate them. But when they're done right, they can really hit the spot. I only just came across this mash-up of Shazam's remix of Munk's 'Down In LA' vs Michael Jackson's 'Remember The Time' mashed by German mash-up man Marc Johnce. I couldn't help but melt on listening to this, it was just such a perfect choice and combination; specially since not too long ago I watched 'Remember The Time' on youtube and it re-ignited my old Cleopatra fascination.
With the first anniversary of MJ's death approaching in a few weeks' time (the 25th June - where were you when MJ died?) I guess I'm getting in early with a bit of a tribute. LOVE YOU FOREVZ MICHAEL!
And speaking of which, let's fast forward from Munk circa 2008 to Munk 2010 with a freshly released new single AND video in 'La Musica', coming off an upcoming Munk EP due out in September, as well as being licensed by the Ponystep party people's compilation with Kitsuné aaaand Busy P's first mix cd. What more verification could you possibly need of it's quality?
You can have a sneak listen of what's on the 'La Musica' 12" here, including a snippet of what Azari & III (I die for Azari & III - I will do a proper post on them some time soon, promise) have done with the track...In them meantime, cop the radio edit here:
