If you don't know VillA, they're a Belgian trio that makes disco music with a dark side - because sometimes a good bass line and an energetic percussion are just not enough. I have to say that it took me a while to pay attention to Mighty Mouse. A bad choice of name is not only an easy point, but can often get more press than a compliment on the internet; but when I finally did check them out, I wasn't disappointed. The British answer to Aeroplane slowly won me over with their latest remixes (the Gorillaz one is so good) and now with their latest mix, (horribly) named Dark Side of the Cheese, might be the missing piece for love. Not true love, though - I like to mess around.

This week, I went to a terrible party and the only way for me to bear the pain of staying there was by getting completely wasted. So I drank a whole bottle of champagne (how fancy of me), went to an after party and ended up with a face full make up on and poking random people on Facebook. Needless to say that I swore to myself and my unborn child that I was never going to drink again. Then, a day later, I listened to Aeroplane's May Chart Mix and all I can think of is going out. Take Aeroplane (and alcohol) away from me, for my own health!

Hiya to the brothers Macklovitch (hiiiyaaa Dave1)

And for those who are feeling a little more energetic, here's A-Trak's second Dirty South Dance mixtape. This is your usual spot on A-Trak fare; you'll find yourself turning it up loud and getting yo' dance on before you even realise it. There isn't anything too overly clever or complicated or tricksy about this DSD2, just simply a great mix and mixing - it's just plain old dancefloor fuel. If you can't find the beat with this one, somethin' ain't right witchoo.

Here comes another one with 'magic' in it; mix-masters Doom and Hoodrat of Bang Gang fame deliver their latest, in the ridiculously alliterated 'Magic Mingle Mansion Mix'. This hour of power has just a little touch of a kooky flayyva which is really cool; and it's of course a given that it's utterly danceable - in a rather gentle way. Perfect for doing that half time hip thrust/slow head bang dance along to (ah if only I had a gif to illustrate it - I'll make it for y'all next week, promise).

Hiya Javelin

Hiya Friday. First mix up today is from Javelin who've been on rotation for me lately, here they serve up the Personal Magic Mix. This one is reeeally chill, really laid back (some might say a tad too much so); for those who've had a really long week and desperately need to catch up on sleep to recharge for hammering it on Saturday night (ie. ME). To be had with a bottle of wine on a balcony or rooftop somewhere. It's only a quick mix, 36 minutes long and picks up right at the end when you've had a glass or two of vino and you're ready for something a little looser and upbeat.

The guy responsible for all those super hot remixes from The xx, is of course, the aptly named Jamie xx, who's served up a mix for Parisian landmark of taste, Colette. This mix is precisely one hour long, and it's quite deep; something to lose yourself in late at night, but with plenty of buoyant moments enough throughout to stagger and sway into less basic spaces (HA see what I tried to do there?) inbetween.
